Teachers use the environment very effectively as a springboard for learning in SESE. Experimentation, investigation and discovery learning has been introduced in every classroom. Pupils in the middle and senior classes have opportunities to undertake independent learning and project work.
We brought a mobile Planetarium in to the school to investigate the Solar System. On a clear night around the school you get a wonderful view of the constellations.
Fifth Class took a trip to the nearby Marble Arch Caves to get an understanding of the Geology that shaped and influenced this area. Great features from the last Ice Age still dominate the surrounding countryside.
The ruins of Sligo Abbey play a very important part in the local history. Founded in the 13th Century it has watched over a very dramatic history.
Enniskillen Castle provided a very inciteful insight into the lives of local residents during the First World War.
When the weather improves its often all down to the local beach. Sixth Class did more than play in the sand - investigating the content of rock pools.
Similarly, as the seasons change we go foraging in the surrounding woods. Much of what we bring back goes in to building fantastic bits of art - see our Art page for more.

Each year a couple of classes take responsibility for out School Garden - growing a huge variety of flowers and crops under the guidance of Sarah and Chris.
And speaking earlier of the Marble Arch Caves, their team occasionally come down to the school and give a really brilliant hands on demonstrations of the earths geology - including a working 'volcano'!!!!!
