We recognise that ITC skills are vital in todays world. ITC is used as a teaching tool in all subject areas and we have a specific ITC programme taught from Junior Infants to Sixth Class.
Each classroom has desk top networked computers, and whiteboards, which are used extensively as a teaching aid across all area of the curriclulum. The school also has its own wireless network. This enables the suite of 30+ laptops purchased over the years by our Parents Association and other resources to be used in any class room. These are used to teach ITC skills individually in classes as part of our general literacy programme.
Children are also taught how to use digital camera, and a wide variety of software programmes.
With regard to access and use of the internet the school has developed an Acceptable Use Policy that is strictly adhered to.
Each year we enter the Manga High world wide Maths Challenge during Maths Week. All of our laptops are placed in the hall, and classes come one at a time and log on to the manga high website and complete as many challenges as they can, at their own particular level. Some interesting games. They can use their same logins at home to gain extra points.
All classes get to have a go. The games suit all ages and abilities. sometimes Sixth Class will look over the shoulder's of the younger ones, and help them out.
